Terminée au moment où éclatait la bulle financière, la salle de concert Harpa, à Reykjavik, symbolise le redressement de l’Islande après les années de morosité. C’est aussi pour cela que le projet a été récompensé par le prix de l'Union européenne pour l'architecture contemporaine.

Anguleux, translucide, ajouré, théâtre d'un jeu d'ombres et de lumières et dominé par les éléments, en l'occurrence l'air et l'eau, en harmonie avec l'âme et la tradition du quotidien islandais : l'Harpa, salle de concerts et centre des congrès de Reykjavik, a reçu le 29 avril le prix de l'Union européenne pour l'architecture contemporaine, remis par la fondation Mies van der Rohe et par la Commission européenne.

En charge de l'architecture contemporaine au sein du département d'architecture et de design du Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) de New York, Pedro Gadanho insiste moins sur la tradition islandaise dont s'inspire le projet que sur le fait qu'"il s'agit d'un édifice réalisé avec certaines difficultés et dans un contexte plutôt hostile" : Lehman Brothers, la fin de 2008, le début de la récession et une "Islande qui a été le premier pays à souffrir des effets de la crise". Cette crise "est venue faucher le projet en pleine construction et en pleine convulsion", insiste-t-il.

Mais l'Harpa, non content d'être un symbole économique, est aussi le témoignage vibrant d'"une architecture nouvelle, forte de références nouvelles, et répondant à un désir fort des Islandais de se doter d'une salle de concerts". Pedro Gadanho insiste sur la collaboration des architectes et d'Olafur Eliasson dans "la construction de la façade", sur les "salles de concerts très spacieuses", et les "jeux de lumière, combinés à l'emplacement au bord de la mer", le tout s'intégrant dans une stratégie de "croissance de la ville", qui se réinvente dans sa zone portuaire.

D'abord 14,50km puis un plus grand réseau à terme, visiblement on s'oriente vers un BHNS bi articulé

Il me semble qu'il y a toujours un projet de train entre l'aéroport et le centre ville, ce projet de BHNS remplace un projet projeté de tramway, mais je crois vaguement étudié, le BHNS est plus approprié au regard de la densité de la capitale
