InterContinental Hotels Group to Manage World’s Tallest Hotel in Nanjing

The scheduled openings will comprise the following hotels:
In Nanjing, the gateway to southeastern China and a historic city that is today one of the fastest-developing in Asia Pacific:
· InterContinental Nanjing, a 450-room luxury hotel located within the proposed Nanjing International Financial Center, which will be the world’s tallest hotel. The hotel will offer top-notch conference and business facilities, three food and beverage outlets, spa and pool. Scheduled to open in 2010.
In Xi’an, a prosperous and rapidly growing city that is home to the famous Terracotta Warriors:
· Holiday Inn Greenland Xi’an, a 380-room mid-scale hotel located in the proposed
RMB 3 billion (US$ 361 million) Xi’an Hi-tech Development Zone, approximately five kilometres from the city centre. Facilities will include extensive meeting facilities, a range of food and beverage outlets, health club and pool. Scheduled to open in 2007.
In Putuo and Minghang, two of Shanghai’s newest industrial and commercial districts, which attract international companies in the high-tech, light industrial and logistics sectors:
· Express by Holiday Inn Putuo Shanghai, a 230-room convenience-sector hotel located close to the express city train station and a major shopping mall. Scheduled to open in late 2006.
· Express by Holiday Inn Minghang Shanghai, a 350-room convenience-sector hotel in the newly-developed Minghang residential district west of Shanghai. Scheduled to open in early 2007.

InterContinental Develops Tallest Hotel

Towering more than 1,400 feet above Nanjing, China, the InterContinental Nanjing is poised to become the world's tallest hotel at its 2009 completion.
The 66-story, 450-room luxury hotel is further reinforcing InterContinental Hotels Group's position in China. In February alone, the company inked management contracts for a total of 10 hotels there. Four of the hotels were signed with Shanghai Greenland Group and will be located in Nanjing, Xi'an and Shanghai, including InterContinental Nanjing. The other six were signed with Chengdu International Exhibition & Convention Group and will be located in Sichuan. The hotels will include InterContinental brands Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express, and will add 6,000 rooms to the hotel group's China portfolio of 17,439 rooms in 51 hotels, which includes the Crowne Plaza brand. The company expects the portfolio to grow to 125 by 2008.

Oui en voyant les rendus j'ai tout de suite pensé à la Trump mais en y melant la commerzbank c'est tout à fait ça !

Je trouve cette tour très originale, avec des coins arrondis et cet aspect de non-symétrie.
De plus on a l'impression qu'un sculpteur a tracé des sillons sur les facades de cette tour.
A en voir les photos, on peut se rendre compte quelle n'a pas une forme carré, comme la plupart des tours, mais triangulaire.

Elle est vraiment magnifique cette ville, je l'adore

... et donc, a la suite des rendus toujours presents de Stickyesman, voici les dernieres vues aeriennes de la Green land plaza. Le cladding a bien evolue. La tour est vraiment imposante, d'autant que Nanjing a l'air d'une ville plutot aeree, dont la skyline n'est pas encore tres fournie...

C'est la situation de cette tour qui la rend aussi imposante, la première photo le montre bien d'ailleurs.

Pour la petite histoire, Nanjing ou Nankin veut dire Capitale du Sud, par opposition à Beijing, pékin, Capitale du Nord. En effet, Nankin fu a plusieurs reprises capitale de l'Empire, République de Chine, et aussi d'autre gouvernement rebelles comme les Taiping. Son histoire est notament marquée par le sanglant épisode du massacre de Nankin, perpétré par les soldat japonais sur les civils chinois pendant la Seconde Guerre Mondiale, et qui est l'une des principales raison de la haine qui oppose aujourd'hui les chinois au japonais.
Par son importance historique, Nankin regroupe des monuments impériaux trés important, dont les murailles de la ville, les vestiges du palais impérial, des tombeaux Ming, et également le mausolée de Sun Yat Sen, fondateur de la République de Chine (aujourd'hui réfugiée à Taiwan).
Aujourd'hui, Nankin est la capitale en plein développement de la richissime province du Jiangsu. Elle est reliée à Shanghai par le TGV chinois en 1h, la gare est flambant neuve, le métro égalment. Son tissu urbain traditionel, qui a entièrement disparu après 1949 a été remplacé par d'affreuse batisses comunisto-sinisantes que l'on retrouve partout en Chine. Aujourd'hui, les chinois rebatissent Nankin avec les exemples que l'on peut voir sur ce theart, mais égalment, comme dans toutes les villes à potentiel touristique en Chine, avec des rues entières construite sur le style traditionel chinois, complétement pastiche, cherchant à recréer un simili ancien pas toujours de très bon goût...
Voici donc une nouvelle vue sur le Greenland Plaza, dont le clad est probablement l'un des plus beaux qu'il m'ait ete donne de voir... jugez par vous-meme :
La tour, maintenant topped out, est un chouia plus elevee que la Sears Tower de Chicago, grace a son antenne.

C'est vrai que le cladding est pas mal.
Il semble que ca y est : la clad est desormais pose sur l'ensemble de la structure.
Quelle tour ! Une version chinoise de la Trump Tower a Chicago, avec le clad en "peau de dragon" qui lui sied a ravir...
