San Diego (Californie)

San Diego est une ville côtière du sud de la Californie, aux États-Unis, située au coin le plus au sud-ouest du pays. La population de la ville était de 1 223 400 habitants en 2000 et elle était estimée à 1 305 736 en 2005, l'agglomération en compte 3 051 280 en 2005 et l'aire urbaine de San Diego-Tijuana 4 688 762. C'est la seconde ville de l'état de Californie et la huitième plus peuplée des États-Unis[1]. Elle est connue pour son climat agréable, ses nombreuses plages et pour avoir été une importante base navale militaire entre sa fondation en 1602 et la fin de la Guerre Froide. Siège de nombreuses installations de l'armée américaine, son port accueille la plus grande flotte navale du monde. De nombreux bateaux ont été nommé USS San Diego en l'honneur de la ville[2].

SAN DIEGO EST UNE DES VILLES LES PLUS DEMANDEES AU USA, THAT'S RIGHT !!! euh ignomo, au fait, je parle français ...  A7 ... PROXIMITE AVEC LE MEXIQUE, SOLEIL, MER, DESERT, MONTAGNE, CALIFORNIE,  la ville est collé avec TIJUANA au Mexique .... quand j'étais môme, mon rêve était d'aller vivre à San Diego, je ne sais pourquoi cette ville ... ....

C'est moi ou les IGH de San-Diego paraissent plus hauts qu'ils ne sont réellement. Je suis allé sur Skyscraper page et j'ai été étonné de voir qu'aucun des gratte-ciels de San Diego ne dépasse les 152 m de haut.

Normal , il y'a une limite de taille fixée par la ville .

Perso j'ai été 8 fois , chaque été , dans cette ville , et c'est ma préférée des US ;)

Au fait ,t'a oublié le très célèbre hotel del Coronado (Film avec Marylin Monroe)

Maintenant qu'on a vu les beaux immeubles et boulevards, est-il possible d'avoir un aperçu moins touristique de la ville, par exemple là où sont les gens, les quartiers résidentiels etc ? On me répète chaque fois qu'une ville des Etats-Unis c'est la même qu'une autre, à part NYC, mais je n'ose le croire !

J'ai eu la chance d'aller à San Diego pour vacances en septembre 1999 et 2000.
Je dis bien chance, car c'est une grande ville humaine et agréable à ne pas manquer.

J'hallucine de voir tous les changements en 6 ans.
Premières constatations :
La nouvelle tour à toit triangulaire à côté de la tour de l'hôtel Hyatt n'y était pas.
Dans le quartier du convention center, de la marina et de l'hôtel Mariott les 2 tours jumelles étaient toutes neuves et la vue que javais du dernier étage de la tour Hyatt n'avait rien à voir avec les photos actuelles. Notamment les quartiers bas en bordure de Down-town qui sont grignotés petit à petit par les tours. Beaucoup de tours d'habitation de standing. Je me rappelle en 2000 avoir vu des panneaux concernant les apparts des 2 tours jumelles à 1,2 million de Dollars (déjà ces prix à cette époque, qu'est ce que çà doit être maintenant).

Il est vrai que les tours dépassent rarement 20 niveaux et 150m. A l'époque la tour Hyatt était la plus haute de la ville. Je ne sais pas si c'est toujours le cas.

J'ai pu également apprécier la plage de Coronado beach à côté de l'hôtel de Coronado en passant par le pont du même nom. Quartiers très chics de ce côté là.

La vue est également magnifique depuis Point Loma ou on voit toute la baie et jusqu'aux côtes mexicaines.

Il est vrai que San Diego est une ville qui a l'air riche mais plus on s'approche de la frontière notamment avec le tramway, plus on traverse des banlieues de plus en plus pauvres (notamment La Mesa ... ...) et ensuite on arrive au poste douanier pour aller à Tijuana (véritable ville commerce)!
J'ai pris également le tramway pour aller à la limite Est de l'agglo en bordure de désert ou çà construisait très low-rise des grandes zones commerciales.

Balboa Parc est le plus grand des parcs intra-ville avec une autoroute qui traverse la ville avec grosso modo au sud Down-Town et au nord les quartiers périphériques pavillonnaires.

San Diego est une ville très étalée (comme toutes les villes américaines). Je devais assister à un rodéo, en banlieue nord m'a t-on dit. Après 1h de voiture par autoroute sans discontinuité de bati me voilà arrivé.
Quand on pense qu'à côté il y a Los Angeles encore plus immense. Nos ville sfrançaises font figure de naines.
Mais je dirais de naines bien denses à côté.
A peine quitté le centre de Down town on se retrouve dans d'immenses quartiers pavillonnaires dignes des banlieues de 2è couronne de nos métropoles (chez eux c'est carrément dans la ville centre le cas). Donc nos villes sont beaucoup plus denses.

Ces photos donnent envie d'y revenir pour découvrir les nouveaux quartiers et l'architecture moderne des tours construites depuis !

Salut Tonio, je savais pas tout ça, j'en apprend des choses sur toi, en tout cas sa me fait plaisir car moi j'ai découvert l'amérique seulement pendant ce mois de fevrier 2007 (L.A ; las vegas, san diego, tijuana), j'en reviens là, et j'ai visité cette ville de san diego, c'est vrai qu'il y fait vraiment bon vivre, c'est plus calme que los angeles, les rues sont plus jolies, et les quartiers little italie sont vraiment conviviaux, le bord de mer du centre des congrés jusqu'aux bateaux militaire et autre sont vraiment beaux.. j'aime beaucoup, c'est vrai que j'ai étais étonné en allais sur SSP de voir qu'aucun des grattes ciel ne dépassent  150 m ; j'avais l'impréssion de labas qu'ils étaient nettement plus haut. en tout cas c'est une ville magnifique et je comprend trés bien ton point de vue Tonio  A5. La route entre Los angeles et San diego est splendide et aussi quand on passe prés de la zone militaire au bord du pacific on voit des tanks, des hélicos s'entrainer c'est impréssionant bref trois semaines en amérique,ce pays, ces gens m'ont completement charmé! vive l'amérique!  B6 et vive le ptit tonio LoL  D6

PS : j'ai pris quelque photos, comment on fait pour les mettre là ?

Sinon je suis impressioné par la quantité de chantiers en cours.
