Perkins Eastman envisions a self-sustaining urban center in Egypt
Challenged to carve out a self-sustaining community from an empty landscape, Perkins Eastman was commissioned by the Talaat Moustafa Group to develop the master plan for a 106-hectare (262-acre) urban center. The Madinaty City Center is envisioned as an integrative network of open and green spaces that establish connective links between neighbourhood nodes and functional identities. Madinaty is a City of International Standards in Egypt ,the master plan was the result of a collaborative effort between three top US design firms: HHCP, SWA, and Sasaki, which product a modern city whose design focuses on providing all present and future requirements of its inhabitants and visitors. It is a city built on 8 thousand Feddans, designed to provide a modern life for 600,000 inhabitants in 120,000 housing units, acting as a modern extension to New Cairo.
Madinaty is a natural extension of New Cairo. It is situated in Cairo 33 kilometers on the Cairo-Suez highway. Its boundaries extend from 2kms before the entrance to Al Shorouk City for 10kms with a depth of 4.5kms. The city is a 10 minute drive from Heliopolis and 20 minutes from downtown Cairo.
